The North of Boston Convention and Visitor Bureau runs a search site promoting destinations in the thirty-four cities and towns of Essex County in Massachusetts.
We updated the overall visual design of the site with a fresh palette and more effective use of their existing photography. We then filled in the holes with some custom illustration. Underneath the hood we did a similar streamlining of the site’s code. A complete overhaul of the aging CMS wasn’t in the budget, but we looked it over and made a few targeted suggestions to help clean things up. We then converted the site templates to modern, standards compliant code to be lighter and more search-engine friendly. The resultant site has held up remarkably well to the day-to-day use by staff that runs the gamut of technical ability. Note: Actually, it seems to be a bit off at the moment.
